There are 293 titles included in this year’s official selection, so deciding what to watch might actually be harder than figuring out where to park.
Here are a few of the movies already attracting attention.
The festival kicks off on September 10 with the world premiere of Being Heumann, directed by Siân Heder.
The film tells the story of disability-rights activist Judy Heumann and stars Ruth Madeley and Mark Ruffalo, with Dylan O’Brien, Ray Fisher and Daniel Durant also appearing.
The opening-night presentation takes place at Roy Thomson Hall, making the King Street and Simcoe Street area one of the major places to watch on the first night.
Chris Rock returns to the director’s chair with Misty Green, starring Rosalind Eleazar as a former actress fighting for another chance at a Hollywood career.
The supporting cast includes Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya and Anna Kendrick, giving this world premiere plenty of star power.
The film stars Rosalind Eleazar, and Chris Rock will also be taking part in a live onstage conversation while in Toronto.
Director Martin McDonagh brings Wild Horse Nine to Toronto for its Canadian premiere.
The film joins the final group of titles added to the 2026 lineup and features a cast that includes Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich, Parker Posey and Tom Waits.

Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple is a new documentary exploring the life and legacy of the legendary Rush drummer. The film receives its world premiere in Toronto as part of the 2026 program.
Helen Mirren takes on the role of acclaimed author Patricia Highsmith in A Talent for Murder, directed by Anton Corbijn.
The thriller follows a young publisher sent to Switzerland to convince Highsmith to write one final Ripley novel. Alden Ehrenreich, Olivia Cooke and Juliet Stevenson also star.
